What did everyone think of the play (if you have seen it)? Did you see a certain Phantom or Christine you would like to comment about? Discuss the Musical here.
I loved the play. It was different from the book but it was ALW's adaptation and his Point of View (PoV). His lyricist, Charles Hart, did a beautiful job combining the music with romantic words. I saw Gary Mauer. He had a strong, gorgeous voice which rang through the auditorium. He had depth and distinguished himself nicely. I unfortunately didn't see Michael Crawford. The music from the Original Cast Recording (OCR) was beautiful and both Sarah Brightman and Michael did wonderfully.

I haven't seen the play, but I've heard the one from the 80's. I didn't like Brightman and Crawford as Christine and the Phantom. Both do have beutiful voices, don't get me wrong, but Crawford just sounds too.... patient. And if it's possible, Brightman just sounds too operatic (if thats the right word).
I wasn't that fond of Steve Harley either (I know, I know. So picky).
